Monday nights that are actually worth it

What is open in Baltimore on a Monday night and actually worth going out for: a free jazz jam in a Hampden basement, a Fells Point bar with a band every night of the year, and kitchens, raw bars and harbor rooms that keep full hours on the hardest night of the week to plan.
Updated Sep 28, 2026 · each stop says the day its sources were read, and what they left unconfirmed
Monday is the hardest night to plan in Baltimore. It is the night most kitchens close, and a lot of what is technically open is only just. Everything on this list is open on a Monday evening, staffed, and doing what it does the rest of the week, whether you are in town for a few days, new to the city, or a local who has run out of Monday ideas. Places that shut at sunset are left off.
It opens with five places that make Monday a night in its own right: a $13 burger special, a band every night of the year, a free Django jazz jam, a soccer pub open until 2am, and live music on the busiest block of Thames Street. After that it goes neighborhood by neighborhood so you can pick one and stay put: Fells Point, Federal Hill, Canton, Locust Point, then north, then out to the ballpark and the water.
Before you go
- Eat before nine. On a Monday, dinner ends at 9pm at Oleum, Nick's Fish House, L.P. Steamers (last seating) and Rusty Scupper, and the kitchen at Lee's Pint and Shell stops then too, though the bar keeps going.
- Cross Street Market, Jollof Bowl inside it, and Bodega and Vino all close at 8pm on a Monday. Make them the start of the night, not the end.
- Book the Bygone and Thames Street Oyster House. The Bygone charges $75 a head for no-shows and cancellations inside 24 hours, and the Oyster House draws from well beyond Fells Point.
- Weekday happy hours run on a Monday too: $2 local oysters at Thames Street Oyster House from 4:30 to 6pm, and 3 to 6pm at Mama's on the Half Shell (first-floor bar only), Loch Bar and Azumi.
- Driving? Canton and Locust Point have no public garage, so it is street parking. In Fells Point the Caroline Street Garage, 805 S Caroline St, is a few blocks from Thames Street.

Hull Street Blues Cafe
Start with the Monday that has a price on it. Hull Street Blues is a corner tavern deep in Locust Point's rowhouse grid that has called itself a neighborhood treasure since 1984, and it runs the week as a set of rituals: crab cakes on Tuesday, trivia on Wednesday, and on Monday a $13 smash burger. This is where Locust Point actually eats on a weeknight, so you will be among regulars. The kitchen keeps its full day to 10pm, and Bodega and Vino, a block along Hull Street, is the early glass of wine before it.

Cat's Eye Pub
The reason Monday in Fells Point is a real night. The Cat's Eye is a 1975 waterfront bar that never went upscale, and by its own count it has a band 365 days a year, so Monday gets the same stage as Saturday. Expect blues, zydeco, jazz or Irish music in a small room with real regulars and flags from visiting sailors on the ceiling. Weekday sets are in the evening, so come after dinner: Thames Street Oyster House, a few doors along, is the obvious meal before it.

The Bluebird
The strongest Monday on this list, and it costs nothing. Under a cocktail room on Hickory Avenue in Hampden is a small, candlelit brick basement, and every Monday since 2012 it has held a Django jazz jam, 7pm to 11pm, hosted by Michael Joseph Harris and the Hot Club of Baltimore. No cover, and all ages are welcome. The kitchen runs to 10pm, so eat first, then go down for the music. The street entrance is up a flight of steps and the room is a basement, so this is not a step-free night.

Claddagh Pub
A pub whose hours are set by soccer rather than the workweek. Claddagh has been family-owned since 1995, bills itself as Baltimore's original Irish soccer pub, and opens at 10:45am on weekdays because match kickoffs do not wait, then runs to 2am. With several bars and a courtyard it is O'Donnell Square's default place to land a group, and every March its tented Meet in the Street party takes over the square. Monday is the night to claim the courtyard. Eat before 10pm, when the kitchen closes.

The Horse You Came In On Saloon
Half the draw is the story. The Horse claims a 1775 founding, a Prohibition it survived, and the legend that Edgar Allan Poe drank his last here; treat all of it as lore, since the bar under this name dates to a 1972 renaming. What you can count on is live music every day and a 1:30am close, Monday included, on the busiest block of Thames Street. Doors open at 4pm on a Monday. Thames Street Oyster House
The serious seafood room in Fells Point, and the usual answer to where a night down here starts. The Baltimore Banner counts its raw bar among the city's most extensive, and on a Monday it keeps the same 4:30 to 9:30pm as any other weeknight. Aim for the early end: $2 local oysters run at happy hour from 4:30 to 6pm. Sláinte Irish Pub
The Fells Point room that does not treat Monday as a different question. Sláinte sits on the Broadway corner of Thames Street and opens at 7am every day of the week, when almost nothing else in Fells Point is serving, does breakfast until 2pm and is a pub until midnight. That makes it the one to know for both ends of a Monday: breakfast before work, or a last pint once the kitchens along the water have closed. The dollar oyster banner in the window, shared with Kooper's Tavern next door, is for Saturdays, not tonight.

Broadway Market
Baltimore's oldest public market, on this square since 1786, and open until 10pm on a Monday. The 2019 renovation made it more food hall than market, which is exactly what a Monday with a group needs. Head for the north shed and graze: a Polish deli serving since 1985, seafood, Thai, smoked barbecue and whatever the pop-up stall is doing. It is cheap, nobody has to agree on one kitchen, and the Thames Street bars are a short walk down Broadway to the water.

Pitango Bakery + Cafe
A bakery on the harbor edge that is still open at eight on a Monday evening. This is Pitango's waterfront room, next door to the Sagamore Pendry, not the gelato counter up on Broadway Square: breads and pastries baked in house, Italian charcuterie, sandwiches and coffee, with seats out by the water. It is counter service and open until 9pm, so it suits a slow early evening with a plate and a coffee rather than a booked dinner. The Wednesday wine deal and the weekend music are other nights; Monday is the plain version.
