Gameday, done on foot

The bars near Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium, and how to reach both grounds without parking: a $2 train to the gates, the pub across the street, and Federal Hill for eating and watching. Set to the hours that matter on an Orioles night or a Ravens Sunday.

Updated Sep 28, 2026 · each stop says the day its sources were read, and what they left unconfirmed

Both of Baltimore's big grounds sit in one complex just south of downtown, a few hundred yards apart, so the same few blocks serve every Orioles night and every Ravens Sunday. Gameday here is easy once you stop trying to park: the ballpark lots are permit only, the streets around the stadium are residents' parking, and a $2 train stops at the gates. This is for anyone with a ticket, and anyone happier watching from a patio.

It runs the way the day does. First how to get there and how each ground opens, then the pub across the street, then east into Federal Hill to eat, or to watch on a big screen if you are not going in. After that come food worth the detour, rooms for later and the free waterfront, then the harbor's big three for whoever came for the city rather than the score.

Before you go

  • Do not drive to the gate. The ballpark's own lots are permit only and residential permit parking around the stadium is strictly enforced. The Light Rail stops at Camden Yards for $2.00.
  • Sunday trains do not start until 10:35am, in time for a one o'clock kickoff and nothing earlier. The free Circulator runs 9am to 7pm on a Sunday.
  • Clear bags only at both grounds, and the Ravens' rule is stricter than the Orioles'. A bag turned away at the gate has nowhere to go.
  • The ballpark opens its gates an hour before first pitch Monday to Thursday and ninety minutes Friday to Sunday. For football, every gate opens two hours before kickoff.
  • On a Sunday, Faidley's and the Jollof Bowl stall are shut. Quigley's does not open until 5pm and is closed on Monday.

    Light RailLink

Start by not driving, because that is the whole trick. The state's light rail runs from Hunt Valley down to BWI and stops at Camden Yards itself, while the ballpark's own lots are permit only. Most people who take it to a game park at an outer station and ride in: $2.00 one way or $4.60 for the day, in the CharmPass app or at the platform machine. Weekday trains run past midnight, but the last from Camden leaves before the system's final time, so do not cut it fine. Sundays start at 10:35am.

    Charm City Circulator

Then the bus that costs nothing. The Circulator is the city's own, twenty-four free buses on five routes, and the Ravens themselves ask fans to use it rather than drive. Purple comes down from 33rd Street to Federal Hill every 13 minutes, which is how you reach the bars later in this list. Mind the clock more than the route: it runs to midnight on Friday and Saturday, but stops at 8pm Monday to Thursday and 7pm on Sunday, so after a weeknight game it is the train or your feet.

    Oriole Park at Camden Yards

The ballpark every other ballpark copied, and the reason the warehouse behind right field is the most recognizable brick wall in baseball. Get there early and use it: gates open an hour before first pitch Monday to Thursday and ninety minutes Friday to Sunday, so there is time to take the place in rather than queue outside it. Bring a clear bag; the rule holds at every gate. If a crowd of nearly 46,000 is a lot for someone with you, the certified sensory room by Gate F runs in 15-minute slots.

    M&T Bank Stadium

A few hundred yards south is the Ravens' home since 1998, which is why one set of bars serves both grounds. Football keeps a longer clock: the lots open four and a half hours before kickoff and every gate two hours before, so the day starts long before the game does. Do not hunt for a space on the side streets, where residential permit parking is strictly enforced; the club itself asks fans to come by train, bus or Circulator. The clear bag rule here is stricter than the ballpark's. Five sensory rooms, and captions to your own phone.

    Pickles Pub

Now the bar. Pickles has stood across Washington Boulevard from the ballpark gates since St Patrick's Day 1988, three minutes on foot, and most of the Orioles crowd walks past its green front and pickle sign on the way in. The railed high tops on the sidewalk fill before first pitch and again after the last out, and that is the reason to come: this is the loud end of gameday. Burgers, sandwiches, a crab pretzel. On a Sunday game day the kitchen starts at 9am, which makes it the one for a Ravens morning.

If you would rather eat properly first, walk east into Federal Hill, about ten minutes further out than Pickles. Crossbar der Biergarten

The other way to not go in, and the one for a group. Crossbar bills itself as Baltimore's first German biergarten, built on the Cross Street strip by a local team in a $1M-plus 2017 renovation: liter steins, a German beer list and kitchen. It books everything from the mezzanine to the whole place, so a crowd lands here. Quigley's Half-Irish Pub

Back toward the ballpark for the evening. Quigley's is a rowhouse pub on a residential corner of Ridgely's Delight, four minutes from the gates, and it is the quiet version of what Pickles does: drafts, Irish whiskeys, pub food, the game on, live music some nights. It does not open until 5pm and is shut on Mondays, so it belongs to a night game or to afterwards, never to an afternoon. Sunday is uncertain, with listings split on whether it opens at all, so do not build a Ravens Sunday around it.
