What this covers

City Emprise is in a public preview period for Baltimore. This page describes what we collect on cityemprise.com today and what we do with it. When the full product launches with accounts, this policy will be replaced with a fuller one, and we will say so clearly.

What we collect

• Email addresses you give us, when you sign up for early access, the Baltimore Now newsletter, or venue onboarding. We use them only to contact you about City Emprise.
• Things you write to us: feedback, nominations, and messages. These go to the people building the product.
• Anonymous usage events, like which page a visit came from, which places and guides get opened, which links get pressed, how far down a page you scrolled, how long a page was open, and whether the screen was a phone or a computer. So we can tell one visitor from a hundred, your browser keeps a random number that we count, and nothing else: it holds no name, email, account, or advertising identifier, it is never joined to anything you send us, and it never leaves our own systems. We set no cookies of our own and use no third-party analytics. Clearing your site data erases it, and any browser can switch counting off below.
• The town you connected from, worked out from your connection by our own delivery network and kept only as a town, state and country. This is a guide to one city and we need to know whether the people reading it are anywhere near it. We do not store your IP address, we do not ask any outside service where you are, and this is never joined to anything you send us. Switching counting off below stops it along with everything else.

What we don’t do

• We do not sell or share your information with anyone.
• We do not run ads or advertising trackers.
• We do not send marketing email you didn’t sign up for.

Third parties

The site runs on Amazon Web Services, and your submissions are stored there. Pages with maps load Google Maps, which has its own privacy policy and may set its own cookies when it loads.

Unsubscribe and deletion

Every newsletter email includes a one-click unsubscribe link that works immediately. To have any of your information deleted, email hello@cityemprise.com and we will remove it.
